How to delete your YesChef account, and what happens to your kitchen’s records.
Last updated: 12 September 2026
This page explains how to delete your YesChef account (provided by YesChef Kitchen Services LTD), what is deleted, what is kept, and when each part of it is gone for good.
There are two ways, and they do the same thing.
The first thing that happens is that we email you a copy of your food-safety record. If that email cannot be sent, nothing is deleted at all — you keep the account and can try again. Closing your account should never be how you lose your inspection history.
For 30 days, signing in again brings the kitchen back exactly as it was — recipes, ingredients, suppliers, equipment, stock, invoices, your records and your team. Nothing has been thrown away yet.
At 30 days these are deleted for good and cannot be brought back:
Your food-safety records — temperature logs, opening and closing checks, cooking and cooling records, cleaning records and delivery sign-offs — are kept for 12 months from the day the kitchen was closed. These are the records an environmental health officer can ask you for, and we are not willing to make closing your account the thing that destroys them.
Your sign-in stays live for those 12 months so you can get a copy. It reaches the records and nothing else: there is no kitchen behind it and it does not give you the app back.
Once the first 30 days have passed, signing in takes you to a page that says the kitchen has gone for good and gives you the date the records will go too. You type in an email address and we send the pack there. We no longer hold an address for you by then — yours was deleted at 30 days — which is why we ask for one. This is limited to three requests an hour.
At 12 months the food-safety records and your sign-in are both deleted for good, and nothing of yours remains.
Residual copies held in our encrypted backups are purged automatically within 90 days of each of the deletions above, after which no copy remains.
A YesChef kitchen can have more than one team member. Deleting the account deletes the whole kitchen, for everyone in it — which is why only the owner can do it. If you want to leave a kitchen and let the rest of the team carry on, ask the owner to remove you from the team instead.
We retain data only where we are legally required to — for example, basic financial or transaction records that applicable law obliges us to keep for a limited statutory period. We do not keep your operational data for any other purpose, and we never sell or share it.
